A19 RESURFACING SCHEME – A689 WOLVISTON INTERCHANGE

Works to overlay the final concrete section of A19 in the vicinity of A19/A689 Wolviston interchange are continuing to programme.  Works on the southbound carriageway were completed on Saturday 1 October.

Works on the northbound section commenced on Monday 3 October, with the first full weekend closure this weekend, details below.

A19 Northbound (A689 Wolviston Interchange, diversion via A689 and A179 through Hartlepool), 2000 – 0600 each night:

  • Monday 3 October – Thursday 6 October 2022;
  • Monday 10 October – Thursday 13 October 2022;
  • Monday 17 October – Thursday 20 October 2022;
  • Monday 24 October – Friday 28 October 2022;
  • Monday 31 October – Friday 4 November 2022; and
  • Monday 7 November – Friday 11 November 2022.

A19 Northbound (at A689 Wolviston Interchange only), full weekend:

  • 2000, Friday 7 October – 0600, Monday 10 October 2022;
  • 2000, Friday 14 October – 0600, Monday 17 October 2022;
  • 2000, Friday 21 October – 0600, Monday 24 October 2022; and
  • 2000, Friday 28 October – 0600, Monday 31 October 2022.

During the full weekend closures the diversion route will be via an ‘up and over’ using the off and on slip roads.  Traffic on the exit slip road will be advised to use both lanes, traffic in the left hand lane will turn left onto A689 and u-turn at A689/Wynyard Avenue roundabout.  National Highways have implemented specific timing plans will be used at the Wolviston interchange traffic signals, which are a NH asset, to minimise disruption as far as possible.  Satellite signing will also be used as far south as Dishforth in order to discourage long distance through traffic using A19.
